A brief video describing the S&W J Frames. The handgun featured in this video is a 5 shot, .38 Special S&W M&P342, with Crimson Trace Lasergrips and an XS tritium night sight. It weighs 16oz loaded with 5 rounds of 148gr wadcutters - Federal Gold Medal Match - which is my "carry ammo."

  • Any thoughts on how this revolver compares to the Ruger LCR ?

  • @frankgon4 Sorry, I don't have enough experience with the LCR to give you an educated answer to that question.

  • :) Nice video! you are very proficient with it in rapid fire. I had a LG-405 grip on mine and I regret I sold it. How'do you rate the one you have on yours in terms of recoil and gripping.

  • I love my 642. It's definitely something you need to practice with and is not a great choice for new shooters because it can be a little rough on you, but it's quite accurate, light and fits perfectly into the niche of smaller than sub compact.

  • @frankgon4 id rather go with this then the LCR. Ive shot both and liked the .38 alot better. Shoot both to get a feel for the 1 you want if you can.

  • Quality video, informative and well put together, thanks!

  • @MUSICALGUNNUT45 Too late. This was 2 months ago. Picked up an LCR about 4 weeks ago.

  • they make 50 cal. j frames don't they

  • @frankgon4 I'd say go with the Smith and wesson. I don't really trust ruger revolvers. My vaquero has had two transfer bar breakes and my single six has been having some problems too. Smith and wessons are much better made in my opinion.

  • S&W snubbies make a great concealed carry/back-up gun. It never jams, even shooting through a coat pocket. Try that with a semi auto!!!
