Hey do you have an air tailgate latch? If so raise the dump less than half way start moving then trip your tailgate . Adjust speed to desired thickness, with of course your tail chains already hooked. This way is a little easier but the way you are doing it is also fine.

That looks like crushed sandstone rather than actual sand. Yeah, there actually is a difference, but not really. Some areas do the sandstone thing because they don't have alot of available sand anywhere close. That bright yellow color is a good hint that it's sandstone.
