Solar Energy is energy from the Sun. This energy drives the climate and weather and supports virtually all life on Earth. Heat and light from the sun, along with solar-based resources such as wind and wave power, hydroelectricity and biomass, account for most of the available flow of renewable energy.

Solar energy technologies harness the sun's energy for practical ends. These technologies date from the time of the early Greeks, Native Americans and Chinese, who warmed their buildings by orienting them toward the sun. Modern solar technologies provide heating, lighting, electricity and even flight.

Solar power is used synonymously with solar energy or more specifically to refer to the conversion of sunlight into electricity. This can be done either through the photovoltaic effect or by heating a transfer fluid to produce steam to run a generator.

Solar photovoltaics provide 0.04% of the world's energy usage.

There are many technologies for harnessing solar energy. Applications span through the residential, commercial, industrial, agricultural and transportation sectors. Solar energy can be used to produce food, heat, light and electricity. The flexibility of solar energy is manifest in a wide variety of technologies

  • what is the name of that place at 0:53?

  • not even going to look below the top comments because i know all there is going to be is comment spammers trying to convince themselves that global warming is not real.

  • it is a neverending source, but not a stabile source, also, the energy that reaches us in a certain amount off time is limited

it has to move the winds and the sea. if we use this energy to warm up homes, the wind and the sea will not have that energy this will have some imnpact on the ecosystem as well

not if 50 homes are warmed up, but what about 1 billion homes whit a PC and some industry on the sides?????

    it is limited.

Don't blame Hugo Chavez or the Saudis, the price of oil is set by speculators on world markets, not by OPEC.

Old rich white men are why a tankful of gasoline costs so much, and old rich white men are why you still drive a gasoline car.

  • Point of use solar in the VAST built environment is cheaper, faster and generates more local economic benefits while protecting our intact desert ecosystems and nation's cultural legacy.

  • @Allante715 Sorry friend, I think you are interpreting my words incorrectly. Try reading Scientific American, and New scientist, they are written by the science community. Other than that, just wait and see.

Insult to our ancestors and makes a mockery of the illusion we call civilization?

You have to be kidding me, honestly. They would be proud at the progress we have made. I guess you would rather live in a log cabin, burning wood and having your relatives die of Cholera, Tuberculosis and Dysentery. Wow, comments like that are ridiculous to say the least. Your utopia views are nothing but pipe-dreams with no connection with the real world.
