  • It's hard to get back far enough for a good wide shot! Better yet, consult the Aug. 1997 Model Railroader. My layout is adapted from the John Armstrong plan for the Rio Grande Southern, Ridgway to Rico.

My layout has some trees and vegetation now plus somw new structures. I'll update this video soon.

  • My wife thinks "too much"! I know it's cheaper than owning a sailboat, which I did for 30+ years. I don't golf and we have only one family car. So, you make choices.

Scenery is cheap. The Blackstone equipment isn't but it sure is reliable. I've been working on this layout about 5 years so the costs are spread out over time. But layouts are never "finished." There's always something more to work on or improve.

  • Laurie, thanks for your comments. I need more trees! But all in good time. I enjoy your many HOn3 videos and construction projects, too. Keep them coming! Dennis

  • Nice layout. I noticed the transition between the 2 deck at 1:45 - 2"05. I'm starting a layout soon where I need to have similar transitions. Could you take a wide angle shot of that area. I've been mulling around some ideas on how I want to do it.

    Thanks

tell me about it. My locomotives aren't any different, but I can't say they are as common as any other locomotives on the market. Take for example my Sierra Railway #3. Built her first in 2003 from a Mantua 4-6-0, and she hasn't given me a break since. Not saying she's really badly operated all the time, but she needs REAL maintenance every so often. Lubricating the moving parts, parts replacements, not to mention smokebox graphiting. all my locomotives need REAL work. Happy modeling!

  • How much did this all cost you? I feel sick every time I think about the grand total of my layout and its not even finished!

  • Nice layout. Great sounds too.

  • That's some nice work Dennis, great rockwork and colors. Love the track plan and structures too. I notice you have a DW reefer too - very cool mate.

    Scoop

  • Great scenery, looks like SW Colrado
