Would you care to post examples of this song (other than this version)? I'm pretty sure this is Yurdal Tokcan's composition. In fact, I was taking lessons from him around the time he was composing this beautiful piece.

This song in slight variations and under different names is played everywhere around the Mediterranean Sea. Greeks have it and the Arabs play this same tune, Pontians, Laz, Sicilian, Morroccans play very very similar variation of this same music - each with their own national name.
