Why?: Yes Ali did need the money.Yes, Ali did respect Rocky. But Ali didn't -know- he was going to lose! The 'fight' was cut up & put back together out of hours & hours of rounds that they filmed, including every possible ending. Which fake ending to use was 'decided', by a primitive computer, -after- the 'boxing' had already been finished.
