@colindominy More like, Jan wrote Gonna Hustle You, UA refused to release it because it was so shocking, so he rewrote it as New Girl In School, and the label accepted that. I asked Jan one time what he meant by gonna hustle you and he kinda winked at me and said "It meant I was gonna ___ her brains out, kid.' Aww Jan, I miss ya, baby.

Jan & Dean belong in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

They had many hits, fans and helped to create sounds that were legendary.

J&D and the Beach Boys created the California surf sound that helped to define the 1960's.

I shake my head at some of the acts already in the Hall.

Many did not do half of what Jan & Dean did.

Weak, facile junky cover-versions like this rather pathetic, embarrassing version of the GREAT ORIGINAL Jan & Jean track of "New Girl in School" (orig even before that, known as 'When Summer Comes, Gonna Hustle You') - are shameful. Cover versions like this are PRETEND MUSIC. The ORIGINAL fantastic, unbeatable Early 60s Sthn Calif music of groups like J & D + The BBs - can't be mucked around with in the modern era. Fans - just SEARCH OUT THE ORIGINALS !!
