  • Where on earth did you get the idea of putting big mouths in front of little speakers with an open back? It's brilliant! And as I remember, with an OB design, it doesn't matter what size the driver is, you get the same f3 depending on the baffle, so the bigger the driver, essentially the higher the efficiency.

  • Open baffles sound amazing. Front horns add efficiency. The 126e doesn't need a tweeter. It works well.

  • Where can I find plans to build a pair of these odd looking - wonderful sounding loud speakers? Also; Are there any plans for a video featuring those double mouth horns in the background? Kudo's to you sir - a truely fine system!

  • @geezerrocket

I build speakers and then have to sell them due to space constraints in my listening room. I never shot video of the double horns before selling them. I like open baffles and front horns better now. But for a true single driver, with no "helper" woofer, it is hard to beat them IMHO.

  • @sandersonphoto I'm not new to the DIY audio community..........& I've seen some cool gear, but this really stretches the full-ranger to its logical limit. This recording is down-right spooky realistic sounding! You say this horn is 'tuned' to 200 Hz.......do you have any other technical data you can share. I was thinking of using the Tang Band 5" FR with this horn. It seems a straight-forward build..??

  • @sandersonphoto My only question on the front horn is it does it raise efficiency linearly with frequency, (I think it must raise the upper mids). Am I wrong? Is it the "hands behind the ears" effect? Congrats on your being able to sell your creations. I'm interested in your experiments if using Tang Band drivers. They're relatively inexpensive and available wordwide.

  • @sandersonphoto my only concern with horn on a dipole is that you bring the polar dispersion pattern out of balance..

  • @goglesux

    Perhaps.

  • @tekoheko

Never tried techno or rap. They did symphonic well though.

  • @SteveArpo

I don't own the speakers anymore. I sold them to a fella in Michigan. As far as I know, he is still enjoying them. Which makes me happy. I enjoy building and experimenting. Can't keep all my creations.

  • @2ManyNoobs

Open baffles are amazingly open sounding. Put a horn on them and the dynamics are crazy good.

    Ella Fitzgerald. Love her.
