This is sooo awesome! I'm a College Nine student and live in Nine right now - and although I love it here, I'd rather my college does not exist because this is too cool to be destroyed!

i just moved into Kresge and i'm sooooo bummed that Elfland doesn't exist anymore, it sounded like such a magical place

I've been to the Cave of Faces! That's cool you were in a band at the time. I remember a lot of local bands like Mustard, Hedgehog and some others. Good times!

I'm not sure if it's there any longer.
I graduated back in 1989 and the word I heard was that the original ELF LAND was destroyed when they made room for College 9 (which didn't exist when I was a student at UCSC).

College Eight '91 grad here....what great memories you've restored. Elf Land was the best. Other memories.....Kresge Day, the '89 earthquake, the fields behind Porter College, the caves behind Porter (and cross High St.) for spelunking......

Yes - how could I forget the 1989 earthquake? I was actually in a band at the time called Distant Rumble (we used to play at UCSC) and we were actually rehearsing at the time. We released a second album after that earthquake called "AfterShocks". As for the caves you mention - I've BEEN IN THOSE CAVES - which used to be called "Hell's Hole" if I remember correctly. In fact, if you go down deep enough, you reach a room called the "Cave of Faces"!

I was a keeper of the origional Elf Land where the veil between worlds was very thin. What a cool place to honor in your own yard.

Thank You. However, without the fairie rings created by the Redwood groves, my Elf Land is a mere shadow of the original.

You obviously DID NOT READ my description that goes with the video. I said it "WAS DESTROYED when they made room for College 9".
In any event - I left California in 1989 - so who knows what has been done, besides the university continuing to tear down more Redwood trees to make room for more dorms, since I left nearly 20 years ago!
