Lake Turkana is widely known as the Jade Sea, because of the remarkable, almost incandescent colour of its waters. But the water levels there are receding and this has adversely affected life support systems thriving around the lake. Central Island National Park is one of the facilities reeling from the effects of reducing water volumes.
