Le Martinisme est un courant initiatique issu des enseignements de Louis-Claude de Saint-Martin (1743 - 1803), le "Philosophe Inconnu" qui se caractérise par la réflexion analogique, l'expérience spirituelle, les notions d'émanation, de chute originelle, de réintégration, d'arithmosophie. L'Ordre martiniste aboutit à la contemplation, la paix de l'esprit. À l'instar des anciens alchimistes , pour y parvenir il propose laborare et orare .
