Taking the pet out of the carrier is against all airline regulations. She should NEVER have been on your lap on the airplane. Period. Whether you paid a fee or not. If you read the airline's website rules about pets in cabin, you knew this. You ignored it. This is why pet fees continue to climb; it's a disincentive to fly with in-cabin pets because so many owners insist on ignoring rules and too often it causes expensive disruptions.

no, i do not give my dog any medicine or anything before the plane ride. she sleeps the whole time. we do a 4 hour flt almost monthly (round trip) & she never has any problems.

Yes, she was with me in the cabin during the entire flight. The flight attendant was soooooo rude though & Delta now charges $150 each way for me to bring a 2lb dog in the cabin so I'm not sure I'm flying them anymore. AirTran is better.
