The Obituary - Short Film - Ragme Cant

This is a experimental short film based on a husband-wife relationship. How much a pricky husband can impact his wife's life forms the crux of the story. The roller-coaster contrast of emotions which the wife goes through are explored in film language.

This short film , written and directed by Annamalai was executed with fellow members in Ragme Cant Productions Pvt [Un]Limited at Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA), batch of 2009-11.

just a few comments frm my 1st impression

the tussle between the husband wife does not reach a climatic point, so it is difficult to understand the husband's decision to fake his obituary.

Thats y i think the film wud have been better if it had started with the call

also y does the film chnge from b&w to color?

and moreover as the viewers know that the husband is on his way to commit suicide the last scene lacks the surprise and the punch it was supposed to give.

As for husband-wife conflict reaching a climatic stage,we showed 3 different shots of the same night after the wife returns from office in trying to show how pricky the husband is..May be down on the intensity because the husband underplayed the whole thing or may be because of lack of more scenes to build it up..Lot of people said this story can be made into a full length feature film..So may be those 3 shots needed much more fine tuning w.r.t the script considering it was indeed a short film

Hey Farooq alias Annamalai, Your first Technical movie is Very good Attempt. but you say that " How much a pricky husband can impact his wife's life forms the crux of the story". But the video is fully about the "Husband". "Wife" is pretty normal. In the Video, "Husband" Suffers more than what "wife" does. So Pricky "Husband" makes his life tricky.

the wife has gone through a lot prior to the husband's fake death. And after his fake death, she initially doesn't know how to take it and then attains normalcy. Again to see her husband come back, she is engulfed in a cloud of emotions. Again to see her husband go, she breaks down this time. Husband on the other hand has been and stays pricky before his fake-death, when he is in hiding and when he comes back.

Only during his realisation does he behaves like a sane man for a moment before taking a decision which is good for none.

So, overall I would say, story is still completely about the wife who suffers throughout because of a pricky husband !
