NS 506 Paulsboro Derailment-8/23

8/24/09-On August 23rd, at approx. 5:00 AM in Paulsboro, NS 506 was heading South to Deepwater with a loaded coal drag. As the last 15 or so cars passed over the Mantua Creek swing bridge, the old bridge collapsed!!! The engineer dragged the train another three crossings before stopping. The bridge will be closed until they can get it fixed. NS 506 continued to Deepwater that morning, and are still there now. Apparently, I am the only person to get pictures and movies from this incident, besides one person on rrpicturearchives.net and one picture in a local newspaper, which can be found at:

The ties and ballast were all messed up and scraped, and need to be replaced, as well as the bridge. The bridge is being fixed right now, so trains can run again ASAO.

i was at the fire house when we got the call for this when we got there i was like this must be NS engine 9441 that runs the coal through these parts

I'm glad you got these shots, Jared! I heard about it but didn't get to know what it looked like. I think someone got shots on rrpicturearchives,but these are much better by a LOT! Awesome stuff as always, too bad for the TopGons though ;D
