My dad had one of those vans for a while... it's vaguely mid-engined (powertrain sits under the driver's seat) so most of the weight is right over the front wheels, and the load bay weighs next to nothing.
I never had to do an emergency stop in it, but I bet if I'd really stomped on the brake pedal without cargo in the back the rear wheels would have lifted off without making any adjustments to the system. Rear wheel brake force doesn't matter if they have no weight on them anyway...
