"Globalization" is just one aspect of the mindless accommodation of human overpopulation, with capital constantly seeking new markets to sell to, or find the cheapest possible labor.
The whole idea of perpetual "economic growth" is a pyramid scheme when you see it in the context of a FINITE planet. Physical resources ultimately provide the growth, not just ideas, and physical resources have limits.
