Very neat! The pano at plateau Point was awesome! I did this hike in January 2002. It was 10 F at the rim when I started down at dawn and 60 at Indian Gardens when I started the hike back in the early afternoon. What were the temps in July? I'm guessing it was pretty hot! I've been back to Plateau Point twice since then, both times on the way out from Phantom Ranch, and both times in late fall / early winter, so I've never experienced the intense heat of a summer hike in the canyon.

Because I was taking pictures all the way down, it took me about 5 hours for the descent. However on the way up I didn't have to take any picts so it took me about 2 hours to make the ascent. I did this on foot.

HOW LONG did it take to get to plateua point? Did you go by foot or donkey?
