I was verbally attacked by a poll worker and unfortunately I only captured just a few seconds of it on video. I must have hit the stop button accidentally. Here's the story:
I sent in my change-of-address form about a month before the election and did not receive a confirmation so about a week ago I called the board of elections to confirm that the change had taken effect. They told me that it had and gave me my polling place location. When I arrived this morning, I was not on the list and they tried to give me a provisional ballet. I told them that did not want one and would prefer to vote "regular", at which point they acted confused by why I would want this. So I went outside and called your hotline to get advice. They told me to exhaust all efforts and ask them to double check the lists. So I went back to speak to the manager. He immediately became VERY VERY short with me and eventually implied that I was stupid at which point I called him out on it and he denied it and tried to reverse it on me, by saying that I was implying that they were stupid. This very far from the truth, I was simply inquiring whether all of my options had been exhausted. We got in a heated argument. At one point I pulled out my video phone and he tried to tell me that I was not allowed to take photos. I told him that that was not true and he relented. I eventually I had diffuse the situation because I could tell that this man was simply incompetent and lacking poorly in social skills and self-control. I realize that he was probably not trying to purposely suppress my vote, but I am saddened that a person such as this would be put in charge of a polling place. The location was 2828 Glendale Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90029.
