Danish saxophonist John Tchicai sitting in with Thomas Agergaard and Ok Nok...Kongo on the Frue Plads stage during the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, July 5, 2011.
As opposed to so many free sax players, he isn't just 'going crazy,' but he is constantly playing musical ideas. Notice how the moment one idea ends another one begins. Very few improvisors have that much discipline & focus. There is not one moment where he is musically,'treading water,' until another idea comes. What is also impressive is that he maintains this type of focus while playing with the energy & feeling of abandon of someone who is just 'going crazy' on his instrument.
