@M4800 I bought a flip video MinoHD which is 1.9" wide for my 54mm md. you need to install it in a compartment away from ejection charge gasses. i never ended up flying it in my rocket tho, but it IS possible. its a great camera, i reccomend it.
But heres the thing, if you want video looking downward toward the tail of the rocket, you need to install a camera hood with a mirror, which adds ALOT of drag and destroys the point of minimum diamiter.
your talking several thousand feet less alt. :(

i wish i had a big area to launch one it. so anyones that i buy cant go too high,
the biggest one i have i think only goes to 800' and is maybe a foot long. i woulod like to build my own a little bigger, i just dont know how

pretty interesting that the first stage had the rocket spinning counter-clockwise then the second stage spun it clockwise.

VERY cool nice job smoke shadow is realy tight

I have a Cannon Powershot which records pretty good video, it will fit in a 54mm rocket, but somehow the lens has gotten jammed, I took the camera apart to try to fix it (It has happened before and I fixed it) but i think something else is wrong with it.
What type of camera did you use?

It was an Aiptek MPVR 2k6. Just a cheap one but it works fairly well.

Alright thanks, I am working on a 75 mm MD (AMW M) to 54 mm MD and would love onboard video from the sustainer, just looking around for some camera choices that would fit into a compartment that small.

Putting a camera in a 54 mm diameter would be difficult, but not impossible. On Bigger Purple, the upper stage is 4". I have a video cam in a 2.5" rocket but I had to disassemble the camera parts to make it work. Not easy to do on most cameras
