This is the first of 3 Superior 2.0 tutorial videos using electronic drum sets. Superior Drummer 2 gives us e-drummers an amazing sound library and great playability within a Virtual Percussion setup.

I can't believe how much control S2.0 gives us! You'll have to check out the other videos for more info on mixing and effects... not to mention Video 2, which is all playing.

MY SETUP: RET Percussion electronic kit, Smartrigger cymbals, Alesis Trigger IO MIDI interface, Superior Drummer 2 (New software from Toontrack, maker of EZdrummer), PreSonus FireBox with ZERO latency, on my Alienware laptop. Drums recorded in Cubase SX3.

I use Jim Rupp signature sticks from Pro-mark, and the Iron Cobra Jr. double pedal from Tama. I also utilize BFD2 and Addictive Drum software.

As always, feel free to subscribe to my videos, leave a comment, send a message, or just give me 5 stars!

Thanks for your support. It means the world to me!

  • how about the iron cobra jr??

  • I love it! Why do you ask? There are some really good Gibraltar double kicks on the Virtual Percussion Outlet site. Check it out, friend!

  • well because i want to buy a double pedal but i cant decide: iron cobra jr new or iron cobra used...any opinion?

  • Hmm... I do like my Jr. and I do like the full Iron Cobra. A new Jr. would be my pick, honestly.

    Hope that helped!

  • No matter how good you are at something youll always find someone better on youtube

  • @samtheinsaneshred thanks mate !

  • @riqyl32 It's really up to you, most will say they prefer the sound of SD because you can tweak it a little more than EZD.

You can load EZD kits in SD :)

Again I'm afraid this one's up to you man. What I do is process them outside of EZD (or SD, i have both XD) cause' to me the effects included in SD are pretty lame. I use Stilllwell Audio vst's and the're amazing.

  • I currently have ez drummer with lots of expansions and im thinking about bying this one. My Questions:

    >Does it really sound better than the ezdrummer? Cause to me it sounds worse.

I mean they've added lots of effects lik eq s compressors etc. , but that's not how i like to get a good sound! I want the original samples to be good.

    >Can you load an ezdrummer kit in superior drummer and use it like before?

    >Is it worth buying if i don't need the effects and i don't use the ready grooves library?

  • And what do you do of you play in a club. Get real! Oh, you just stay in your bedroom?

  • @drummingtrumpeteer69 Yes - just use a midi to USB adapter cable (about 10 bucks) and connect your v-drums to the PC. Easy.

  • @tonycamino And I don't need a soundproofing or a rented practice room to practice all day... ;-)

  • @tonycamino 8 months old comment but nevermind ;-)

True, assuming you have a tuned kit, microphones and a mixing desk to input all the mics into. I just need one USB cable. And with virtual drums, you can change drum sets with a flick of the dial... whereas you need to buy another kit. My V-Drums kit has 50 onboard kits and 50 empty slots for my creations... you'd need a warehouse to store your 100 kits... mine just take up the corner of my spare room... Juss sayin ;-)

  • is it possible to use these kits on a td20 or yamaha series kit?

  • Hi Mickey,

let me ask you a question... I use alesis trigger io and Superior drummer + metal foundry on my Mac... I have low latency but in bfd2 I cant play because the latency kills me, hahaha.. so can I reduce latency with alesis io2? or only presonus will solve my latency problem?

    Thanks from Brazil!
