An exploration of the revolutionary period of prehistory that began when humans abandoned the nomadic hunting and gathering existence they had known for millennia to take up a completely new way of life the decisive move to farming and herding the ration of permanent settlements and the discovery of metals setting the stage for the arrival of the worlds first civilisation.

  • I wish they would have mentioned that Gobekli Tepe was OLDER than all those other sites... and farming had NOT yet taken place when Gobekli Tepe was originated; it actually developed over the span of time Gobekli was in operation, before it was buried intentionally.

  • @yawenalice The Hunter Gatherers probably did not see it as a trade as we would today. The Hunter Gatherers were probably used to swapping people between groups otherwise inbreeding would set in very quickly. Sorry if I am stating the obvious.

  • @DeeHoffner Perhaps he thought it's a great deal: you can get wool from it, you can milk it, you can eat it, or you can have sex with it...

  • @cowboyfromkettins Yes. Let me note also at some of these locations for early agriculture in Briton seems to show the use of fire to clear areas for planting.

  • @jggrow seems reasonable, if they had the right plants in Britain they wouldnt need influence from the east, the only reason the european mainland didnt farm was because they didnt have the right resources, remember though that most of Britain was covered in forest at this time too though
