Part 1 of 2 in which Fr. Richard Simon preaches & teaches that your life should be built on what God has told you in his 06-01-08 Roman Catholic Homily for the 9th Sunday in Ordinary Time on June 1, 2008. And what has God told you? That He is the Lord your God. You will have no gods before Him. Part 1 of 2.

  • Kudos Father Simon! A homily which examines not only idolatry as practiced in mankind in all ages, but also the ways in which the modern distractions of technology & the lack of peace & quiet interfere with our ability to "sit down, shut up and listen" as God speaks.

  • Very insightful how Fr. Simon cites the reasons why we habitually commit the very grievous sin of idolatry so often. It's interesting when he notes that several papal encyclicals state that Catholics have a duty to study the Bible. He states that prayer is not our talking to God (He already knows what problems we have and our needs & wants), but that prayer is primarily our listening to God. I liked the way Fr. Simon said, that in essence, Jesus tells us to: "Sit down, shut up and listen!"
