The Nile has influenced Egyptian and African cultures for centuries. These civilizations have developed new methods to better utilize and improve the quality of the life-giving water of this great river. The film opens with a brief, fascinating history of the cultures that thrived along the Nile. The longest river in the world, the Nile's tributaries drop out of the highlands and into the deserts of North Africa forming mineral rich soil that is ideal for farming. Modern changes which affect today's rivers and greatly increase their productivity are examined in this well-produced and interesting film. A Wayne Mitchell film.
