The "small tank" at the Taiji Whale Museum may be the most horrible place on the planet for a dolphin. These dolphins only have a few feet of water to float in (they can't swim, the tank isn't really big enough). They never open their eyes and they have no stimulation whatsoever. These dolphins are in a comma-like state-of-mind. This tank needs to be shut down, forever.

  • At the aquarium in Long Beach, California they state they do not have any dolphins or whales because they could never provide large enough enclosures. They must swim miles per day in order to be healthy. That tank is wayyyyyyy too small. That would be like locking us in a tiny closet for the rest of our lives.

  • There is a petition to the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA) who are responsible for that tank that would like 1500 signatures. I would like to add 2 zeros to that number. Please sign and spread!

It won't let me post the link... but put in "WAZA taiji petition" and it should be near the top.

THAT tank is like keeping a horse in a closet. It is so wrong.

  • @Phoenixfalconer If they die they will simply be replaced with more :( this has be stated as Ric has said that these were not the same dolphins as he saw months ago.

  • And you find this acceptable?

  • @Phoenixfalconer SeaWorld's killer whales still have a 30 percent higher death rate than the most endangered species of killer whales in the ocean. Also, SeaWorld is linked to this, and many other dolphinariums that support the Taiji slaughter and inhumane conditions such as these.

  • Why the hell are people not grabbing lighted torches and pitchforks and REAKING OUT at the morons who own the aquarium

  • This is just depressing, utterly depressing. Please voice your views also towards the Japanese prime minister on twitter - @JPN_PMO & also make sure you add #Tweet4Taiji & #Thecove to your posts! It is only through external pressure that anything can be done to stop this!

  • I never thought I'd say this, but I hope they die. I would rather have death than live in an area about 3 times as long as my body. At least the SeaWorld dolphins get mental stimulation, play time, a lot more space, etc.

  • This is disgusting, cruel and torturous. What an awful way to 'live' your life. These poor dolphins need to be released before they die or commit suicide.
