I'm not really any sort of expert on this stuff, to be honest. But I assume that if you continue stretching as part of your regimen and don't stop practicing wushu, that you should be fine. More important than the weight lifting is just practicing lots of basics. That will help you the most.
For the shins, Wu Di would sit on a bench the long way with his feet hanging over the edge. Then I would hold his feet with a little pressure (not too much) while he pulled them back to work his shin. It doesn't take much pressure if you aren't used to the exercise. You could use no pressure too if your shins aren't developed yet.
Weights are good for building quads, but most people need to work much more on the supporting muslces like hamstrings and shins.
I was talking with Wu Di and Wang Xi in Beijing and they said that the best exercises for their legs in wushu is frog leaps and shin strengthening. Wang Xi said that he used to do frog leaps around the track for 200 meters (2 laps). He said it was very difficult, but necessary to improve his legs. Wu Di also said that it is important to work on your shins, as most people only do their calves and it leaves your legs with a weakness if the opposite muscle is not developed.
@wushuzilla can u gimme some example about this exercise?
