I had a form of chorea and tics that came and went over 12 long years. It turned out that I had calcifications on my basal ganglia, and that it was treated with Vitamin D. I got completely better in a couple of months, and it has not returned. Because I was Vitamin D deficient, it allowed calcium to accumulate in areas of my body that it would not ordinarily accumulate. If nothing else is working, try at least 25 IU of Vitamin D3 per pound per day.

Hi, is this more an acute or a chronic process? Was she worked up for PANDAS? did she have a history of streptococcal infection? Has she seen a neurologist? Has she had an MRI? Is this getting worse or better over time? Most docs would encourage second opinion or presentation at treatment planning conferences and further workup if the diagnosis/treatment is in question.

My son was diagnosed with this in feb of this year. it was devastating at first but with a great medical team and meds he has made a miraculous recovery in 4 monthes vs the 2 yr prognosis we were given! im just wondering to the woman whos child had this how your experience has been being as this is a very rare dx.
It does come and go and get better and worse. New tics come and old ones return.

She has never had any sort of work up. Two Neurologists have seen her. She did suffer a very bad case of strep that put her in Children's hospital for 5 days.

Her diagnosis was changed after the onset of verbal tics. She has been diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome.

I ask you, stali0n90 how you knkow it is not SC? There are many spectums as with Autism. My Daughter was in fact Diagnosed with SC. Her walking was never affected as of yet. Hopefully she never has another bout of it and hopefully it does not come on more sever the next time if it returns. I do know how bad it can be, My Daughter had a mild Muscle form but suffered greatly in the other areas such as her emotional state. I hope you don't have a Child who has to suffer thru this. I am THANKFUL!
