Most people familiar with taiko have seen Kodo perform their arrangement of Yatai Bayashi which hails from Chichibu. It is traditionally played by a single male drummer riding in a narrow cart as encouragement to those pushing floats in the festival, thus the reclining position which we only play on verse three. Our arrangement involves splitting the verses into chu and shime parts and playing them as splits and together. The shime solo in the middle of the song is known as "tamaire" and requires skill in playing fast and maintaining timing.
