@jasonform dear jason. I think your comment shows a very frustrated personality. So, you may better go practice, and play at least 10% of Garnet's technick and expresivity, and then you'll change your mind. ;)

It's called politics. That's why you have violinists like borisoglebsky win first at sibelius and kreisler competition and then fifth at queen elisabeth. It's all subjective and it comes to personal tastes and bias. fact is, they are all at such high level that there is not much difference among them, imo.

I think you are crazy yes,because the only thing oistrakh and garnet have in common is beeing fat,the rest i don t see nothing in common ,it is like comparing a shit car with a rolls royce.Go learn something about violin before making stupid comments...
The expanation is: Ray Chen 1st because he is the youngest, Lorenzo Gatto 2nd because he is Belgian and Ilian Garnet 3rd because he is the best.
