Even though I'm not a fan of Herman Li, I respect him as a musician. I think musicians should have respect for other musicians. But please Herman, PLEASE stay away from Voodoo Chile. YIKES! But he does play the best pickups in the world. For that, I tip my hat.

I have a 70's dimarzio Fs-1 which I use in the neck on my Vox. I learned to sweep pick with from herman Li's video a few years ago and as a result, I have been chosen as a top 20 sponsors choice finalist for guitar idol 3!! Big thanks to Dimarzio and Herman Li!!

I was always under the impression Herman Li was just a numbskulled douchebag that could only play fast, but after listening about his warm-up routine, I must admit I was very wrong.

Is it hard to install a dimarzio pickup?

It isn't hard, but previous experience with basic guitar wiring is a plus, as it is with anything that requires replaicing and rewiring gear.

Would the Evolutions be the closest thing to the Herman Li pickups, or are there other pickups that would sound closer to the ones in the EGEN? I'm curious, considering I've never played one before.

The Evo neck pickup is pretty similar to the EGEN neck pickup. The bridge model is a little closer to the D Activator bridge model.
