  • @pingraham44 : oh, cape gauge or Japanese gauge in use in Taiwan. Good. We too had 1000 MM / (3 ft 3 3⁄8 in) metre gauge electrified line with 25KV 50 Hz 160 Km line and they were dismantled for conversion to BG / 1676 mm (5 ft 6 in) Indian gauge.

  • Gauge is 1067mm (3'6"). There is no catenary on the branchline. This is a Diesel-operated branchline. At Sandiaoling, it joins the Yilan mainline on the east coast. The catenary there is 25,00 Volts AC.

    If you're a railway modeler, you'll love the scenery and small towns along this former coal carrying line, now a very popular tourist line near Taipei.
