@navyclock I can see how that could happen if the ipod and the amp are sharing the ground. iPods and iphones don't have fully floating ground outputs for headphones. One solution is using an isolation transformer to sit between the headphone out and the input. I have blown fuses on usb power adapters that were powering my iPhone when hooking it up to my car's head unit (different brand amp entirely)
