17:05 hours on 5 July Mount Carmel Fire Department was dispatched for a 3-1 Box a possible structure fire at 316 South Chestnut Street, Mount Carmel. Ladder 2 arrived First on scene followed by Rescue 5. Northumberland County Communication Center was asked to re-verify the address. NCCC then corrected the address to 216 South Chestnut with local PD stating the incident was at 316 South Oak street several blocks away.
Rescue 5 hoofed it north 1 block arrived on scene and assisted in confining the fire, as Engine 4 dropped (LDH) lined from the hydrant at 5th and chestnut, as Ladder 2 repositioned. This was followed quickly by Engine 2 laying LDH from 6th and Chestnut Street followed by Engine 3 laying in from 6th and Market Street to the rear of the structure, with Engine 1 supplying additional manpower and equipment on scene. Shamokin Rescue 62 arrived on Scene for RIT.
Damage was limited to smoke to the second floor and attic. With only minor water damage on the first floor and basement.
Per Chief 2 Jack Williams Jr. the cause of the fire was electrical in nature and accidental.
