@1122skyline Ice cubes or ice can be used to concentrate sunlight much like a magnifying glass to start a fire.

if you had a mobile phone you could probably just order a pizza and forget the need to create fire :p

@Gargantupimp Bear Gryllis has been widely reported in the press after being found staying in hotels on set. Ray actually does go and live on location using the things he talks about on the shoot. Bear is fun to watch and offers some interesting ideas but it is not the same thing at all. One is about living in the wild, the other is about short term survival and getting out of a bad situation.

@coolrunnings1021 I've found that it's best to collect tinder and kindling in the morning and carry it in an inside pocket to dry it throughout the day. Also you'll often find the dryest wood at about hand height on any pine. The way the tree grows tends to block out the sunlight to the branches lower down which die off and are also conveniently sheltered from the wet by the branches above.
