This video features a Lionel MPC Norfolk & Western Class J 611 4-8-4 steam locomotive and matching Powhatan Arrow passenger cars.
This locomotive was made by Lionel in 1981. It was the first reissue of the famous postwar 746 Class J that Lionel made between 1957 and 1960. It features a puffing smoke unit that also emits smoke from the cylinders, Sound of Steam, and an electronic whistle.
The matching passenger cars were all sold separately. In 1981 Lionel released a 5 car set, followed by a vista dome that appeared in the 1981 Fall Collector Center catalog and a dining car that appeared in the 1982 Fall Collector Center catalog. This set was the first time Lionel painted their aluminum passenger cars and was also the first time a combine car was made.

That's a great story. Thanks for sharing. And in my opinion, that's one of the nicest sets Lionel has ever made.

Yes, this has the MPC smoke unit it it. Besides new brushes it's all original. This always has been a good smoker. And having a ZW set at 18 volts always helps.
