Vintage 1940's Fashion - Summer Dresses

When a woman went on holiday in the summer during the 1940s, her wardrobe consisted of morning, afternoon and evening wear. Featured in this film are typical rayon afternoon dresses snoods and hats of the period. Bodices and wide brim hats were everywhere ! Of course there's an engagement in the air! More tea anyone ?

Seriously people; I love vintage fashion, especially Edwardian and 1940's, but would you really, /really/ want to live in a time where racism was rampent, some wounds or ailments that are treatable or curable now were deadly, girls only went to college for the most part to find a husband, etc? Whether we like it or not, societies change and I see no reason why you can't dress/act/speak how you like without saying modern women aren't as good as women of decades past.

TL;DR, live and let live.

@Westiepup101 none of the people i hang out with wear that garbage... those are celebs. I don't think you can speak for the women of that time. most of them were pressured to be and act a certain way.and they didn't have as many rights as women today. a lot of the movie stars were insecure. they even put discs in judy garland's nose because they thought it was ugly!! kind of like plastic surgery today.. sound familiar? it's the same i promise.

@panamanianprincess12 well, most people today do, like Lady Gaga (obviously), Katy Perry, and a lot of others. People were, but not as much as today. But, i think girls in the 40's really weren't that insecure like today.... today's people are really only insecure about her hair or her body. THESE girls weren't afraid to be girls, as what i meant to say. :D have a good day!!

@Westiepup101 uhm sweetie, I may not have lived in these days but I assure you people were insecure back then too. and a lot of today's styles are imitations of the outfits worn then. at least my outfits are! not EVERYBODY wears that kind of ripped innappropriate crap.

@panamanianprincess12 yeah, true with all today's technology and stuff like that..... but i just LOVE when nobody was insecure or anything. so i like this decade more than ours.... atleast we could've have these stunning dresses. so glamourous and chic, so ladylike unlike today's clothing: ripped shirts without bras almost showing your breasts and shorts SO short, they show your personal area. Just sayin!

@panamanianprincess12 u said it... me too. I HATE THE DECADE!! no wonder i LOVE to play L.A. Noire. With all those fancy cars and beautiful dresses and Coco Chanel. Everything today just sucks. >:(
