==========

Van was at somewhat of a disadvantage because the Young Actor category is only open to actors 25 and younger. Since Van turned 26 on Sept 21, 2007, scenes airing after his birthday were ineligible for submission. That disqualified some of Van's best work, i.e. the hospital scene where a single tear streaked down Luke's face. Luke was paralyzed and his world was falling apart. His parents were separating and Noah was alienated from his life. Luke was in despair.

Guys, if you want to discuss this further off YouTUbe, you can join this lively thread I started:

Van's category came early. I included the female category as well. Van and Jake present for Best Talk Show Host at the end. Look at Van's face and tell me what he's thinking or feeling.

0:11 - Jennifer Landon is sitting next to Van Hansis. She is no longer on ATWT. Van and Jen are friends and she often accompanied him to events like the GLAAD Awards.
0:27 - I included the interview with One Life to Live because Van and his castmates were sitting right behind and Van is often visible.
0:57 - "I, on the other hand, don't sing or dance" By coincidence, Van's face appears. Van has expressed the difficulty in being a NYC actor because he can't sing or dance.
1:29 - "You and Portia's wedding" Lesbian comedian Ellen Degeneres is there with her fiancée, Porta Del Rossi. They plan to marry in California soon. It's great that the host acknowledges their relationship. Amazingly, Ellen is on the Forbes' Richest Female Entertainers list ad is worth over $30 million
2:00 - Van's category: "Younger Actor Drama Series"
2:50 - Bryton McClure won last year. He was also on that awful sitcom, Family Matters, where he was a friend of that Urkel creature...
3:23 - Watch Van's face. What is he thinking or feeling? He was the only nominee to not smile and he seems upset. Van may be sick because his voice is hoarse.
4:23 - Jennifer Landon's category: "Younger Actress Drama Series"
6:33 - "Second countdown" For those that don't know, a timer count down the seconds telling you when to end your speech
6:44 - "my brother, I love you" I don't know if she's referring to her brother Sean or her openly-gay [sexy blond] half-brother, Christopher Landon. Chris wrote the recent hit movie, Disturbia. He also wrote my favorite gay short film, $30. Rent it, it'll make you feel good! Here's a photo of Chris:

Jennifer's father Michael died at the age of 54 in 1991. He was famous for his roles in Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven -- all Christian family dramas, especially the latter two.

6:44 - Jesse Lee Sofer, who played Will.
7:11 - Van and Jake present the Emmy for "Best Talk Show Host" Both seem unusually stiff -- especially Van who is great at public speaking. His voice also seems hoarse
7:35 - Van: "Let your guest SHINE" I don't know if you can see it, but Van has very WEIRD shiny cheeks. Was he crying???
9:26 - I was VERY disappointed that openly gay comedian and activist Ellen didn't acknowledge the contributions of Van and Jake to the hay community. They were standing right behind her.

  • Here's a treat that's unrelated to Nuke: a link to the greatest Soap Movie ever made. I'm too young to have seen it theatrically but wept as a kid watching it TV. It had a huge budget, glamorous stars, and was shot in many countries. The story spans 20 years and is based on the French play, La Femme X. You'll see many soap themes, including the famous twist at the end.

I compressed from 800 megs to 90 megs so watch in a small window.

  • he probably did win because he plays a gay character and ppl UNLIKE ME are homophobes

  • margareta806

    > he probably did win

    I think you meant "didn't win." :)

    > because he plays a gay character and ppl

    > UNLIKE ME are homophobes

Some people believe that homophobia was part of it. I'd like to believe that the Daytime Emmy people are more progressive. Their evening counterpart has embraced gay TV, giving multiple awards to gay-friendly shows like Will & Grace, ER, etc. And Ellen has won many Daytime Emmys. Then again, America is more accepting of lesbians than gay men.

  • Is it just me or did Jennnifer Landon lose a lot of weight between her last stint on ATWT and here? Loved Jesse's confused/happy face when she was speaking French :)

  • > did Jennnifer Landon lose a lot of weight

    > between her last stint on ATWT and here?

I noticed the same thing. Perhaps the ATWT makeup people made Jennifer look frumpy so that Gwen would seem more motherly? Jennifer looked fantastic here.

  • How come Jennifer Landon speaks in French?

"Pour mon père, toujours pour toi. Toujours. Je t'aime."

"For my father, always for you. Always. I love you."

    > Toujours. Je t'aime."

Oo la la, you're turning me on with all that French... :) Yeah, I thought it was strange since her father was the actor Michael Landon, known for his All-American roles in Christian dramas like Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven. He died in 1991. He was half Irish and Jewish so the French is a mystery.

  • i thought this was last years 2009's Daytime Emmy Awards??

  • It's just like when Crash won for Best Picture at the Oscars instead of Brokeback Mountain in 2006. We were robbed-again

  • How could Gwen win and Van not? She is as dorky as when she played Cleo. She should've received a knome instead of the statue of the Emmy.

  • O_O ooo~ she spoke french XD i never knew that!

  • Diid he plays on the little house on the prairie ????

  • I am so sorry that Van did not win, he so deserved it! He did a great job with Luke!
