nice Red Special in the background !

After listening to it further and learning to play it note for note, it is Brian May. His hammer-ons and pull-offs are very distinct. It is totally his style.

I have always wondered whether Brian May played the solos. It sounds uncharacteristic of him.

John Deacon played the solo guitar on this one.

So some say. The rhythm guitar sounds very similar to 'In Only Seven Days'.
I do wonder if Deacy did actually play the solos. There is a different style and attack to the acoustic parts that he notably played......I'm still unsure but I do like the idea that he did play the solos.

Brian May uses penthatonic or blues scales for his solos generally. The main solo sounds really different to brian solos, it doesn't sound 'bluesy'.

Yes but his orchestrations are very much 'not' bluesy? Check out the 3 creamy harmony electrics as a simple case in point......I have never read where it was confirmed that Deacy did play it. I'm sure he did the rhythm guitars.....but I can get a feel that May did play the solo parts...I don't want to believe it but I don't know for sure....
