Historically Accurate Pocahontas

No comments on the video this time around, though I might add some if people ask me enough questions. Let it be known that I had a DAMN HARD TIME choosing the background colour for this one.

  • are you going to put up a video for the Sleeping Beauty drawing?

  • @TwilightOtaku666 Apologies, I didn't record Sleeping Beauty.

  • Amazing~ but....how is this 'Historically Accurate'? when Pocahontas was only 11 or 12 when she Met John Smith and the other Europeans??...just wondering...

    but besides that...it is still a wonderful job~ C:

  • @mywolfheart It's a historically accurate version of the Disney character- you can check out the post on deviantart to read the full description and explanation.

  • Hi! Amazingly done! One question: When you drew the rifle you drew it horizontally then rotated it into place, don't you experience any quality loss in the lines when rotated in photoshop, or do you have some kind of trick? My lines loose their crispness when rotated.

  • @GenSilver249 Technically, yes, but it's a nigh invisible loss when I'm working at 11 x 17", 300 dpi- I'll only rotate something once to make sure the lossiness doesn't pile up, so usually there's still a hidden layer with the pristine rifle somewhere in my document if I decide to change it again.

  • She's stunning!

  • Did you record the historically accurate little mermaid that we see a glimpse of in the cinderella movie?

  • Are there any other drawing processes that you're going to post?

  • I don't know that this is rely all that historically accurate, Pocahontas was like 12 years old at the time of the story, the only reason most people imagin her this way is because disney rewrites history and fary tales Its a rely nice digital painting though :D

  • @moulinSP85 An easy way to do this is duplicate all your flat layers, merge all the duplicates into one, make the layer white, then taking a dull, light desaturate purple, shade on the layer ABOVE the white. When you're done with that, create a clipping mask to the white and set the white layer to multiply - then you can easily change the tone of the shadows. It's a quick way and sometimes needs a little bit of tweaking per item of clothing and the reflectiveness, but it speeds stuff up.

  • @darkfire090 Ok nevermind, I think it's the same thing from Gustav Holst - The Planets Op.32 Saturn

  • >:" O

what the hell? why does your video have the orchestral songy of my school song D ": (at around 4:19)... i can hear the lyrics in my head... do you have just one song playing throughout this entire thing?

  • i'm so jealous of your talent :) your artwork on deviantart is amazing and watching the process is incredible! stupid question, but where did you learn to use photoshop etc? i wanna get a tablet but honestly when it comes to photoshop i don't know where to start!

  • @BreakfastAtDior912 there is a rapunzel now check it on deviantart! :)

  • Do you think Rapunzel is an option for the collection?
