A melancholy and tearful Japanese enka, sung by Masako Mori (森昌子), a popular Japanese enka singer, born in 1958. (The family name is "Mori".) This song is from year 1980. Such a weepy and sensitive song, isn't it? But, at the same time, somehow so powerful and comforting! Mori Masako-san has a real ability to put her heart (kokoro) into her songs.

This is so called "fan made music video", edited by Teisuka (teiska123). I've edited video clips from a new Japanese drama film, released in 2010. See more details in the end of the video.

An English translation is made by my friend Masami-san (masami43), who wrote down the Japanese original lyrics with Romaji by listening this song repeatedly, and then made a translation, too. Thank you very much for your great effort, Masami-san. Honto ni arigato!

The lyrics in Japanese and English:

さよならの海
Sayonara no Umi
(The Sea of Good-bye)

Kita no machi nimo osoi haru ga kuru none
(Late spring will come to the northern town)

Yamanami no nagoriyuki mo
(The rest snow in the mountains)

Anata tono omoide no youni
(has also started to thaw)

Tokehajimete iru nodesu
(just like my memory with you)

Aa furimukeba nureta suna
(Ah, looking back at the wet sand,)

Hitori aruku takai kani
(a tall crab is walking alone)

Wasure wa shinai anata no ai wo
(I will never forget your love)

Shiosai no nagisa sayonara no umi
(at the beach with sound of surf, the sea of good-bye)

Soshite watashi mo ima naitariwa shinai
(And, I will never weep now)

Shizumu yuuhi mitsumetemo
(looking at the sunset)

Kanashimi wo namima ni nagete
(Throwing my sadness to the weaves,)

Ashita ni muke arukimasu
(I will continue walking for tomorrow)

Aa hamanasu wa mada daketo
(Ah, although Hamanasu (rugosa rose) is not yet in bloom,)

Itsuka kitto sakudesyou
(it must open up soon)

Wasurewashinai anata no ai wo
(I will never forget your love)

Shiosai no nagisa sayonara no umi
(at the beach with sound of surf, the sea of good-bye)

Aa hamanasu wa mada daketo
(Ah, although Hamanasu (rugosa rose) is not yet in bloom,)

Itsuka kitto sakudesyou
(it must open up soon)

Wasurewashinai anata no ai wo
(I will never forget your love)

Shiosai no nagisa sayonara no umi
(at the beach with sound of surf, the sea of good-bye)

  • Dear Teisuka, This is another great song bringing so much emotion by Masako Mori. Thank you so much for sharing the wealth of great Japanese Enka music. And I also want to extend my deep appreciation for the tireless work of your friend, Masami San, who contributed so much for introducing us to the wonderful Japanese music. And his great work in bring us together with HKShip (George) great legacy of Teresa Teng. Please take care, my dear humanist friend. Warmest regards, John

  • @johnkiang Dear John, Many thanks for your kind comment. Yes, Masami-san is my good friend and this is our 3rd collaboration. Regarding Teresa Teng, I think that my next video will be some of her "rare" song. Earlier I've made 13 Teresa videos, but "in between times" I like to make some other videos too. :) Blessings! Kindly,Teisuka

  • Dear Teisuka,

I thought that everyone has a profound love of memory!

Some sweet and warm, also sad and unforgettable ...

As long as you don't regret !!! to treasure YOUR LOVE

    that's OK !!!!!

    Wendy

  • If it is not quadruple the drama tears, it got to be at least the triple wistful enka. Have a spare box tissues ready! The beauty and the sadness of the tune while being aged, will always has a timeless quality.

I am stunned. Never before have I encountered something of this genre from a Vietnamese director. Truly impressive.

Teisuka, thank you for presenting this with all of us. :)

  • @LinMingXin Ming, thank you so much for your kind words. I do admire George, Masami San, for their dedication to Teresa's legacy. They also brought us Japanese Enka music. Teiska123 has also contributed so much and is another wonderful human being on his own rights. And I also thank you for your true love for Teresa and China. Happy Chinese New Year! John
