We finally got confirmation and a release date for Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy movie and now, thanks to The Hollywood Reporter, we have word that a new writer has been set to take on the script which could gives us insight on what to expect when the film hits theaters in 2014.

For those of you that caught the mid-credit scene at the end of The Avengers - and for those of you that didn't, you can watch it by hitting the link in the description below - you are more than likely aware that the powerful and villainous Thanos is set to appear in at least one upcoming Marvel movie. We know it won't be the Earth-bound Iron Man 3 or Captain America: The Winter Soldier and we now know that Thor will be taking on Malekith the Accursed when The Dark World hits theaters November 2013. So that just leaves the Guardians of the Galaxy to take on the big guy, which word is they will as a set-up for the planned The Avengers sequel which we will most likely be seeing come 2015.

With it looking like the Guardians and the Avengers will most likely team up to take on Thanos at some point, does this mean the Guardians will utilize the comedic element that made The Avengers such a hit? The original script was written by Nicole Perlman, a graduate of Marvel's writing program who made a splash with two space-themes biopics, including Challenger about the 1986 Space Shuttle disaster and a movie about first man on the moon, astronaut Neil Armstrong. Sounds like the perfect person to take on a space set movie, but not so much when it comes to comedy, right? I think Marvel agrees and they've brought in writer Chris McCoy to rewrite the screenplay and most likely up the laugh factor. Though McCoy has no produced films, he has three spec scripts that have garnered a lot of attention in Hollywood and have been praised for their quirky, comedic elements.

So it sounds like we can expect plenty of laughs with our action when Guardians of the Galaxy releases August 1st, 2014. Of course, what do you expect when two of the members are a giant tree-man and a gun-toting raccoon? Let us know which Guardians member you're most excited to see on the big screen and for exclusives you won't find anywhere else, be sure to "Like" us on Facebook. Until next time, I'm Vivian Fabiola thanks for watching!

1st its not Phantom its Thanos

2nd GotG and ant man are being made for a reason. GotG will b the main introducer 2 Thanos and Antman will lead 2 the introduction of 1 of the most powerful foes of the Avengers, Ultron.

3rd as much as id love a BP, or even a flacon movie, they won't do that until at least after the next avengers and they won't reboot DD rite now especially with all the other things 2 do especially the reboot of the Fantastic four, yes they r going to reboot FF, find it @ imdb, com

Why didn't you mention the upcoming Marvel Studios movie, "The Wolverine", hitting theaters 2014!? In this movie, Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) finds himself taking refuge (only for a little while) in Japan, where Adamantium claw with clash with samurai sword! I know all this, and I'm only 10 years old!

vivian fabiola i think that is a good idea putting the guadians of galaxy up aginst thanos first then the avengers give us time to know thanos more beside the fact that he is in love with death by the way i had to watch this video like three times in order to get what you are saying but that is my fault i keep getting lost in your eyes?
