  • wow you are so lucky that you got to see this. where exactly was this filmed? at the "bat amphitheater" or the parking lot? when i went, the park ranger made everyone evacuate the park because there was expected hail and lightning. never got to see the bats. great video!

  • I filmed this at the end of the lot that is closest to the cave entrance. We went down to the amphitheater afterwards, but the park ranger was incredibly strict on not allowing cameras nearby because apparently the electronic signals put out by the cameras interfered with the bat's echolocation (I think????).

  • Indeed they are strict. The high pitched whine of a flash camera recharging will cause them to lose their way and crash into things. I do not know why they don't allow video cameras though. It's probably easiest for them to just have a blanket ban.
