Great match Kenny was so phenomenal on is feet and Dave was just devastating on the mat. I had the honor of being crushed by both of them when I was wrestling. Kenny was so fast that he made me feel like my feet were in quick sand and Dave put a high Turk on me that to this day affects the way I walk and lift objects off the ground...

I don't remember, but Nate Carr was the third best wrestler in the country that weight in those days, but he dropped down and competed at 149 for the Olympics.

The outcome may have been different if Schutz was younger. Then again maybe not. Monday has catlike reflexes. He moves like lightning. And he's not a heavyweight but he's still pretty big which makes his speed that much more impressive.

bs a win is a win
-
Monday won on points but I think his knees and shoulders lost. Ouch.

Who took 3rd?????

It is too bad Kenny Monday never gets the credit he deserved. He is one of the greatest wrestlers America has ever produced. I think sometimes his accomplishments are overshadowed by Dave Schultz because of his tragic death and because Schultz will always be known as one of the meanest wrestlers to step on the mat.

wow ive never seen a person nail a over under throw like that, so early an right in the middle of the mat, thats so damn risky lol
-
Kenny is so much more aggressive or something; it seems like Schultz can't do much.

oh yeah, the talent at this weight for the US was unbelievable. Two of my favorites ever, as well.
I agree. All of the finals combined from this year's Worlds couldn't compare to this one match. And there were more than 10 others from the 1988 Trials alone...Chertow/Gonzales, Davis/Heard, Smith/Lewis, Carr/Metzger, etc., etc.
