even our ''favorite song'' would get old if listened to time after time after time,,maybe fans of other horses [and there are lots of great ones] get tired of hearing ''that name ''Big Red '' over and over ,but it's hard to erase facts ,he WAS the greatest

Exactly. A really great horse like Sham gets left in the dust. Big Red hit the gas and that was that. I never saw the whip in any of these three races. I know they like to talk about how he ran his own races and it almost seems like he knew when it was time to kick ass. I know people scoff at him being named a top athlete but every once in a while it is true. He displays the same qualities that we see in many of the human athletes we are so quick to heap praise upon.

Poetry in motion. Every time I see Secretariat running I am speechless.

his Preakness win is almost always overshadowed by the Derby and the Belmont, they [all 3, still] being THE absolute standard measurements which all other t breds fall short off, but I am never failed to be amazed by this race. Grade 1 horses are pasted like they are walking, and Secretariat is running well within his limits...forward gears Never used

Talk about wrong place at the wrong time, being in the same era with big red, sham would have been a super horse in his own right!
