For those of you who do not know. Paul Howe was a Delta Force Operator during the Battle of Mogadishu and took part in the battle over the 2 downed choppers on October 3, 1993.

@gmanflyairforce3 You'd kill your only bargaining chip and prepare to die? Idk
-
see that second shot at 100 yards? right on top of the first one dang
-
It is! Then you dont need to aim ontop or over the head on a silhouette target anymore

Well, I might order a set of these :D As for optics, I have had em fail on me or lose zeros after a bit. Thankfully i am just a paper puncher or lugging through the bush for hunting. Iron sights on my AR have always been absolutely reliable and I am gonna using just those.

@Fluffyshotme What's up Fluffy?

That sight is a good idea.
-
unless youve been trained in high risk hostage rescue, how could you possbly have any reference?
-
@gmanflyairforce3 inside of 15 (or so) meters you need to start aiming at the top of a bad guys head because of the height over bore of your sight system. This sight eliminates that need.

@sfikes2 I see ther eis a missconception that "ouh he's been in Delta for this and that amount of years, what ever he writes of tells you you'd better always listen to it because he know the know'". Of course, his experiance as a shooter is beyond any doubt. Yet, always look for whats more suited to YOUR needs and the type of scenarios YOU will participate in. Mr. Howe knows his tuff, you can tell it just by looking at him, but that does not mean he knows everything. Keep that in mind.

I have taken instruction from Paul as well as many other instructors. As far as I am concerned, Paul is one of the best instructors in the country. I was a Security Contractor for 3 years and my resume looks like an Easter Egg Hunt compared to Paul's level of experience. Not only does he know his shit, but he is a very meek and humble guy.
I'm sure Mr. Howe knows his stuff..but like a person has the time to align their sights at an armed target 7 yrds. for a surgical shot at the spinal column..perhaps an excellent choice for backup sights though

One scenario where you would, in theory, have the time and the need for a surgical shot from 7 yards is the hostage scenario, where precision takes precedence over speed.

very true, but if i were a hostage taker i would shoot my hostage at the sign of any rescue attempt and prepare to defend myself. Question though, could someone just use an Aimpoint/EOTech that close, or is it more accurate to go with irons?

Its all about the offset at 7 yards. The beauty of the CSAT sight it that you can have no offset at 7 yards and a 100 zero in the same system without taking your hands off the weapon. Its definitely a piece of specialty gear. If I was still in Law Enforcement I would have one on my patrol rifle.
