Sorto was a Finnish hardcore band from Tornio in Northern Finland. Their sound is pretty distinct, bleak and depressive, the drummer got a strange sort of off-beat on-beat thingy going on and the record sounds like its warped. It's meant to sound that way however, and I think it really adds to the sound.
I once read an interesting story about some guy who ran a Finnish punk record store in the 1980s. While he had no problem selling records by the countless hardcore bands in Finland at the time, this band's record seemed to bear some kind of curse, as they just wouldn't sell. The records kept piling up, and in the end he was stuck with a pretty decent amount of Sorto records.
Today, however, Sorto records are rare and highly sought after in hardcore punk circles.
