Cardillo wrote this canzone in 1911 and dedicated it to Enrico Caruso, who made the first recording. Alagna sings this familiar song with tightly controlled passion, building and then letting loose before the quietly intense ending. Guitar accompaniment by David & Frederico Alagna.
Exquisitely beautiful rendition! It has pierced my heart and moved me deeply. I have felt Alagna's passion, and the love you put in creating the video. Again, THANK YOU Dede.

Isn't this was we hope with these old songs ... something different and fresh, and in your face new!? Yes, this is what we have here. A steady beat and undercurrent of guitar, and variations in dynamics and lovely mezzo voce. I love the persistent beat, which is an inevitability of rejection and accusation and remorse ... leading to the fine clean climax. Unique! Yes, the Di Stefano version is iconic. But there is no point is trying to reproduce him. I love this new pathway with Roberto .
