The eye is the window to the soul was the key inspirational idea behind the making of this short. Usually we rely on the face or body language in its entirety to express emotions through recognisable gestures and mannerisms, but is it possible to do so with only seeing the eye? In this way, the film attempts to express maximum meaning through minimal presentation. The idea that only a small number of brief images cut together in a specific pattern can result in the sum equaling more than its parts. Taking place within the context of an eye test the audience is only able to see what the eye can see, and so must rely solely on the eye itself to realise how the story is unfolding, and what emotions are being experienced throughout. After the story-boarding and script were finished, The Test took a day of filming and a day of editing to complete. I enjoyed every second.
