@gmskurtz Isn't it neat the things you can remember from at least (for me) 40 years ago. And obviously, an afternoon kids' TV show affected a lot of people from the number of comments about ol' Captain Gus.

i remember those lights and seeing the news desk across the studio too....i also seem to remember Captain Gus being at the grand opening of the "3 bears" by my house.

I was on the Captain Gus show sometime in the early 1970's with my Cub Scout Den. It was very neat seeing the studio and I remember the being amazed by how bright the studio lights were and the fact that the news desk was in the same room. I also recall that several months later, I was watching the Eyewitness News when I heard (and recognized) Captain Gus's ship's bell off camera.
