As the summer tourism season began in June 2009, many of the businesses along A1A in the Daytona Beach area were closed or in ruins as the area struggles to recover from the 2004 hurricanes and the fallen real estate market

  • It's a shame to see what Daytona has become...With that said, I was in college there in 94-96 and to be honest, Daytona was and still is a crappy city...The beach is great but the rest of the city is a rat hole...Sorry but it's true

  • if Daytona brings back Spring break they would not have that problem. Spring break should be in Daytona Beach because thats where it all started.

  • Daytona drove off spring breakers 20 years ago. Those breakers are now parents with kids, and they have long memories and avoid places where they're not wanted.

    to build ourselves up and those around us. Let's learn to organize our trash better for start. They don't even recycle these days in most places. So we need to get in habits that produce less trash.

  • omg, i live in daytona bch FL an after watching this video i have to say that they have truly capture the degree of Depression that we here are ALL feeling driving around town an seeing great monumental & historical buildings being left in ruins....

    truly sad to see people and places that you care about Crushed under the economical crunch....for some of them, it just to late, their spirits has been broken....

  • What the heck.. apply for some of that stymulus money.. everybody else has. We're going to become a debtor nation by the end of the 4th year of The One's regime.. might as well enjoy it while we can.
